HISTORICAL AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF FORT RILEY
Located at Fort Riley, Kansas

Apple Day Festival

The Fall Apple Day Festival on Fort Riley will be Saturday, September 23, 2017!!
This free festival is open to the public with events taking place throughout the day on Artillery Parade field and areas in that vicinity.
Apple Days is the largest annual festival at Fort Riley, with an average of 7000 attendees.
Most years feature:
  • Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard Demonstrations
  • Static displays of helicopters, tanks, and other heavy equipment and machinery
  • Museum gift shop and other vendors
  • MWR and other informational booths
  • Activities and games for the kids
  • Food and beverage booths
  • Historically garbed volunteers
One of the most anticipated attractions will be the apple pie sales from the Historical and Archeological Society of Fort Riley featuring pies made with Libby Custer's own recipe!
HASFR apple pies are renown by residents of Fort Riley and the surrounding communities.  Our recipe comes from the kitchen of a notable resident of Fort Riley, Libby Custer, wife of the famous General George Custer (resided at Fort Riley from November 1866 to Spring 1867).  It is a single crust pie with a crumbly topping.  The money HASFR makes from selling pies is a HUGE contribution to the Society's efforts to preserve and maintain history at Fort Riley!

Every year, hundreds of volunteers make thousands of pies!  Email hasfrvolunteering@gmail.com if you are interested in helping this cause and others involved with HASFR!

Apple Pie Pre-Sales

Apple Pie Pre-Sales are open!  Click here to reserve your Apple Pie!!

When it comes time to make the pies, we'll be looking for volunteers!  Please follow the link to choose your shift: Apple Day Volunteer Sign Up

Please remember, in order to volunteer for making or distributing pies, you will need to complete the Food Handler’s Training prior to making pies.  That training is valid for one year from the date of issue and is available year round and online by clicking on this button:
